    2. Example: Jesus reading from the scroll of Isaiah (Luke 4)
    3. Example: Jesus teaching on marriage and divorce (Matthew 19)
    4. Example: Jesus quoting Psalm 22 on the cross (Matthew 27:46)

    2. The OT pointed forward to salvation in Christ and the NT reveals salvation in Christ (Luke 24:44-45)
    3. Look for Jesus in the Scriptures
  5. Scripture is useful to make us spiritually mature
    1. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

    3. Scripture shows us where we are out of alignment with God's will and where we are in alignment
    4. Our lives should be steeped in the Word (transformed through a process of study and reflection)
  6. Applications
    1. Study the Word
    2. Read contextually (according to genre and literary devices)
    3. Read prayerfully (to be TRANSFORMED, not just INFORMED)
    4. Teach the Scriptures (correct with gentleness and patience - 2 Timothy 2:24-25)
    5. Stand firm in Scripture (against the lies of the Enemy)
  7. Conclusion - Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.
