SERMON OUTLINE

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

  1. Introduction - What are we known for?
    1. Our mission: to follow Jesus by making disciples who know Him, live like Him, and make Him known.
    2. Series "Live Like Him" will look at six values that define disciples
    3. First value "Keep the Gospel Front and Center"
    4. Big Idea: The Gospel should be most important to us.
  2. The Gospel is our salvation
    1. 1 Corinthians 15:3 “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures”
    2. The Gospel is that we are worse off than we realized but God's love is greater than we ever imagined
    3. 1 Corinthians 15:4 “...that He was buried, and He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”
    4. Christ's resurrection is credible because it is attested by multiple eyewitnesses
    5. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, and rose again to give us victory over sin and death.
  3. How are we saved?
    1. We are saved by “receiving” the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-3; John 1:12; Ephesians 2:8-9)
    2. We are saved by "remaining" in the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1 “by which you are being saved, if you hold to the message”)
  4. The Gospel was Jesus' driving priority
    1. The Gospel was His purpose (Lk. 19:10)
    2. The Gospel was His priority (John 4:32)
    3. The Gospel was worth His sacrifice (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
  5. Applications
    1. Receive the Gospel
    2. Stand firm in the Gospel
    3. Unify around the Gospel
    4. Devote your best resources to the Gospel
    5. Make Him Known
  6. Bottomline: BE KNOWN FOR THE GOSPEL
