SERMON OUTLINE
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8
- Introduction - What are we known for?
- Our mission: to follow Jesus by making disciples who know Him, live like Him, and make Him known.
- Series "Live Like Him" will look at six values that define disciples
- First value "Keep the Gospel Front and Center"
- Big Idea: The Gospel should be most important to us.
- The Gospel is our salvation
- 1 Corinthians 15:3 “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures”
- The Gospel is that we are worse off than we realized but God's love is greater than we ever imagined
- 1 Corinthians 15:4 “...that He was buried, and He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”
- Christ's resurrection is credible because it is attested by multiple eyewitnesses
- The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, and rose again to give us victory over sin and death.
- How are we saved?
- We are saved by “receiving” the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-3; John 1:12; Ephesians 2:8-9)
- We are saved by "remaining" in the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1 “by which you are being saved, if you hold to the message”)
- The Gospel was Jesus' driving priority
- The Gospel was His purpose (Lk. 19:10)
- The Gospel was His priority (John 4:32)
- The Gospel was worth His sacrifice (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
- Applications
- Receive the Gospel
- Stand firm in the Gospel
- Unify around the Gospel
- Devote your best resources to the Gospel
- Make Him Known
- Bottomline: BE KNOWN FOR THE GOSPEL
