Scripture: Matthew 5:8

Sermon: Blessed are the pure in heart

Matthew 5:1-8 When he saw the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to teach them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. [Say verse 8 outloud with me]

    3. Jesus taught the importance of a pure heart. Mt. 5:27-28You have heard that it was said, Do not commit adultery. But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Mt. 23:25-28 25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
