Welcome to Kids Ministry at Southland

Southland Kids is a place where kids get excited about knowing Jesus. It's a place where they hear the gospel, become disciples, and are inspired to follow Jesus by making disciples who KNOW HIM, LIVE LIKE HIM, and MAKE HIM KNOWN.

Our ministry meets children right where they are to help them discover God and His Word on their own level. We know that children are not just the church of tomorrow, but they are the church of today!

Sunday Worship Time | 10:30 am

Thank you for sharing your little ones with us! Each week, we strive to present biblical truths in creative, memorable ways. We seek to come alongside parents in modeling loving, Christian relationships while providing exciting opportunities for growth and learning for your children. It is our hope that a lifelong relationship with Jesus will begin.

Our Kids Ministry Areas

Nursery | Birth - Crawlers

Our nursery provides a safe, loving environment where our youngest children are cared for by dedicated volunteers. While parents worship and serve, little ones experience God’s love through gentle care, and play. We want every child to know they are special and loved by God from the very beginning.

A Nursing Area is available in the Worship Center for moms who need a comfortable space to care for their baby’s needs while continuing to enjoy the service.

Preschool | Walkers - Pre-Kindergarten

We want Preschoolers to learn at an early age who God is and how that shapes their identity and belonging. A solid foundation on the truth of the Bible combined with a safe and engaging environment where all preschoolers feel welcomed and cared for will make room for them to explore, learn, and grow in a way that will impact them for a lifetime. Our time together will be centered on the gospel, high energy and fun while preschoolers find real connection and true belonging.

Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Our Kindergarten through 5th Grade program provides a fun, safe, and engaging environment where kids can build friendships, feel known and discover who God is. Each week, kids experience biblically sound lessons that clearly point them to Jesus and the gospel, all in a setting that is full of energy and care.

When kids arrive, they’re welcomed by leaders who are excited to see them, include everyone and encourage participation. During a Large Group setting kids learn through games, Bible teaching videos and object lessons that make learning about God come alive. Afterward, kids spend time in a smaller group setting where they discover, talk, learn, and play alongside their friends as they explore the Bible story in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

Every Sunday is designed to help kids feel a real sense of belonging, grow in faith, and look forward to coming back.

Curriculum

Hyfi is our digital, next-generation ministry curriculum for preschoolers and kids. With high-energy media, games, and engaging activities, Hyfi teaches timeless biblical truths in a way that helps young people discover their true identity and sense of belonging in Christ. The curriculum is designed to create an environment where every child feels seen, known, and included, regardless of their background or church experience. Click here for more details.

Check-in & Safety

Your child’s safety is our top priority. We want every parent to feel confident knowing their child is cared for in a secure and loving environment.

Kids’ Registration for First-Time Guests

If you're visiting Southland for the first time, save time by registering your children for check-in ahead of time.  PRE-REGISTER YOUR FAMILY FOR AN EASIER CHECK-IN EXPERIENCE.

Check-In Process

When you arrive, please stop by one of our Kids Ministry Check-In stations. You’ll receive a security tag for yourself and a name tag for your child. Each tag contains a unique matching security code for your family.

  • Place your child’s name tag on their shirt before drop-off.
  • Keep your security tag with you—this will be needed to enter the Kids area and to pick up your child after service. We encourage you to wear it for easiest visibility.
  • If you have multiple children, you can check them all in at once.
  • Leaders record each child’s name and family security code upon arrival to classroom as an added safety measure
Pick-Up Procedure

At the end of service, simply present your matching security tag to your child’s classroom leader. For everyone’s safety, children will only be released to the adult with the matching tag.

During the Service

If we need to reach you, we’ll send you a text message or have a staff member locate you in the Worship Center.

Volunteer Safety

All of our amazing Kids Ministry volunteers have completed an application process, including background checks and reference screening.

Allergies & Food Policy

To keep all kids safe, we do not serve snacks in our classrooms due to potential food allergies. (Babies and toddlers may have bottles as needed.)

Security Presence

A police officer is on site during Sunday services, and a Security Specialist monitors the entrance and exit to the Kids area at all times.

Kids Ministry FAQ's

How early can I check in my child?

Check-in stations open 20 minutes before each service.

Who are the teachers?

All of our adult volunteers are Southland members who have completed a background check. We also follow the Two-Deep Rule, meaning there are always at least two approved adults in every classroom.

What is your health policy?

To keep our classrooms healthy, please keep your child at home if they have shown any signs of illness within the last 48 hours, including:

  • Fever, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Persistent cough or sore throat
  • Eye or skin infections (including pink eye)
  • Rash, lice, or other contagious conditions

If a child becomes ill during service, they’ll be safely separated, and a parent or guardian will be contacted for pick-up.

How are classrooms assigned?

We follow Lancaster County Public School’s birthday cut-off for age placement. Children are assigned to rooms based on their age or grade as of September 1.

When is Promotion Sunday?

Promotion Sunday happens once a year, typically the Sunday before school begins, when children move up to their next age or grade environment.
